[machine_needle_felting] Re: BabyLock Embellisher 12 needle

It is close to $100 for the extra head - either the 7 needle or the 12 needle head. But I paid more than that for the Walking Foot for my sewing machine so I look at it as another part for my art. The replacement needles are very expensive so I recommend getting them from Denise at www.tryourdesigns.com where you can buy them in packages or in bulk. I hope this helps,

Hi
I checked with my dealer and was told that  I could  order that part but  it would cost 90.00
so I will probably wait for a while I just got my machine a few months ago and I heaven't done much with  it yet.  Does everyone buy their needles from the dealers or is it safe to have felting needles cut to the right size.

I have found that occasionally all the needles are not precisely the same length and I don't think it really is a big deal as all the needles go WAY down into the needleplate anyway. Also, it is easy to not get one all the way into the holder when you are replacing them. When doing that, if it is hard to see, work under a magnifying glass. I have one on a stand that is very handy for things like that.

It doesn't seem to me that needlefelting isn't such an exact craft like people strive for in sewing. For me, it would take all the fun out of it if I tried to make it so :-)

[machine_needle_felting] replacing needles

I have the Pfaff machine and when I change needles I turn it upside down so I don't have to fight gravity. i have a heavy duty wire cutter to cut my needles--it has rather long handles-- and I took needles with me to try cutting them in the store before I settled on the wire cutter. I bought it in a tool store and also took some of the tiny screws (hex nuts) to buy extra and to buy another small allen wrench to fit them. I keep the screws and extra wrench in an empty medicine bottle. This is the only "sewing machine" that I have ever considered a toy as it is soooooooo much fun to use.

I did ask my dealer (George Moore) to order me an extra head & was told it’s not on the dealers BL web site.  Do you have part numbers for the items so I can have them check again?

Ingrid:

Your Babylock dealer orders parts for machines all the time and it would just be a matter of them ordering an extra head for you. However, the heads do not come with screws so you will need to order the screws that hold the needles - 12 of them. I did this and put size 42 needles in the extra head and switch it out when I need to do finer work.

How can any part on this machine be glued? How and where is it glued and how does that hold up to the action of the needles? Did I miss the explanation somewhere?

[machine_needle_felting] disapointing needle saga

hi heather...  dont know if janome or store put a damaged unit on the machine to sell..or it was just a fluke but BOTH units being defective makes me wonder....

i called the store again and spoke to the owner this time. he said he was supposed to get the machine shipped back with needle unit installed so he could check it out.. but when i explained that im 64, dont drive or take public transportation out of state he said he would allow me to just ship the unit to him to inspect and if needles werent broken (which they are not) he would try to get janome to replace for me ..have my fingers crossed!

then  i took the replaceable unit  to my doctors appt and asked my doctor to losen the needle.. he laughed but did it for me :-)  starting to feel a little better now. dispite the scary news from doctor
