Considering the vast majority of songbirds feed primarily on insects during the summer months than yes, Native plants will attract the most diversity of birds to ones yard but there is nothing wrong with supplement feeding of birds during Fall and winter. Insects provide protein but seeds and berries provide fat which is more important for birds in winter to stay warm and to migrating birds for their long trips. We abuse the land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.
