File - 14. HOW TO POST IN THE GROUP

This is a very active group with several hundred
posts PER DAY. It takes a superhuman effort to
read through each and every post, and most people
would not want to do that, anyway. So, rather than
wade through a "sea" of posts, most people really
only read posts that: 1) pertain to them (as in a
trade they are involved in with another person), or
2) refer to a plant, seed or cutting that they may
be interested in acquiring.

To alleviate the problem of posting congestion in
the group, where the sheer volume of posts per day
can be overwhelming for most people, we ask that
individuals who make a post follow just ONE RULE.

HERE IS THE RULE:

In the SUBJECT LINE of your post, ALWAYS BE SURE TO
PUT THE PERSON'S NAME TO WHOM YOU ARE REFERRING TO
OR REPLYING TO IN A POST.

Please do not simply answer the post, and then click
"Send," as chances are that if you do that, the person
in the group will not notice your post, as they will
be skimming post Subject lines for their name or for
specific subjects that they may be interested in.
Many people have had incidences of missed communications
simply because they forgot to take an extra couple of
seconds to put the person's name in the Subject line
to whom they intended their post to be read.

If you have a common name, and notice that there are
other traders in the group with a similar name or same
name as yours, please be sure to post using your FIRST
NAME AND LAST NAME to ensure that there will not be a
mix-up in communications. For instance, we have several
Michelle's, Peggy's, Carol's, Dianne's, Linda's, Vivian's,
Melissa's, etc.

Misunderstandings have occurred in the past with
nominations as well as communications when individuals
in the group bearing similar or same names have made
posts, and it is easy to avoid this problem if you use
your last name in each and every post and nomination.

The above recommendations are for the benefit of those
posting, as well as for the rest of the membership, who
prefers not to be encumbered reading posts that do not
concern them, and/or which they have no interest in.
Please be considerate of their time, by trying to ensure
that you do not inconvenience them by forgetting to
insert the person's name in the Subject line to whom
you are addressing your post.

Also, we go by First Name (and Initial of Last Name, if
needed) in this group, and NOT BY USER NAME when addressing
one another, so please sign your posts using your first
name at the very least, rather than no name, and/or user name.

We are all human, and almost everyone forgets to do this
from time to time. But, if we all try to remember, it
will make reading the posts in the group much, much easier
for all. It will also help to ensure that your posts
will not be ignored, and are read by the person(s) that
you want to reach.

Please note that members who continually violate and/or ignore
the Group's POLICIES & PROCEDURES will be placed on No Post
status or removed from this group, until such time that we
feel they are ready to proceed in compliance with our policies.

How to Attach Pics to your post or email:

It should be noted that different email programs will have
different functions for attaching a pic, but, if you are using
some of the basic email sites, like Yahoo or Gmail, this is
usually how it needs to be done:

1. You must save your pic in a File folder or on your Desktop
and you must name that file.

2. When you decide which pics to attach to your post or email,
go to your email program, and look for an icon that looks like
a Paper Clip or the words that say, "Attach Files", and click
on that.

3. After clicking on the above (step No. 2), a new page should
open up that says, "Browse Files" or something to that effect, and
there should be squares or spaces where you can click on for each
pic or file that you wish to download or attach to your post/email
to the group. Click on each of those squares or spaces and then,
LOOK, for the place where you saved your pics (either on your
Desktop or the name of the File where you placed your pics in
your computer).

4. After you have attached each pic that you want, click SEND,
and your pics should be attached to your email /post to the group.

Each email program has their own icon or use similar words to what
is described above, but, this should give you a basic idea.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT MESSAGE DELIVERY OF GROUP POSTS TO YOUR
EMAIL ACCOUNT:

Once trading begins, you may find it hard to stay on
top of things as messages and posts fly back and forth
quickly. IMPORTANT: Members who are actively trading
NEED to, at the very least be on Daily Digest,OR Individual
Email, and they NEED TO READ the posts daily to stay on top
of their trades in order not to fall into problems in the
Group.

HOW TO AUTOMATICALLY ENSURE THAT EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT GROWING
ZONE YOU ARE IN EACH & EVERY POST THAT YOU MAKE:

Many members find it beneficial to put their zone even into every
post, so that other members who might be potential traders can
know right off the bat, whether or not a certain member is someone
they might want to trade with (someone in a zone close to
theirs and who are growing similar plants successfully).

So, how does one do that without having to type your zone into
your posts every time you make one? EASY!! Especially if you
are using Yahoo email as your primary email when you post in
this group. ALL email programs generally DO have a feature in
their Tools which allows users to automatically produce a
"Signature" the same way each time they send an email. To get
to Yahoo's "Signature" (which would do that, so that you don't
always have to keep typing in your zone, or even signing your
name), go to MAIL OPTIONS & CLICK ON SIGNATURE, OR COPY & PASTE
THIS LINK BELOW:

http://us.mc530.mail.yahoo.com/mc/options?mailop=1&noFlush&.rand=2035875024

When that page opens up, you will see a big space where you can
type in a signature or "sign" your name as I have done below,
and you can also add your zone beneath your name which would be
very helpful to all other traders know immediately what growing
zone you are in!

Good luck to all who wish to do this...it only takes a few seconds,
and it's very easy!!

Mimi
