This is a periodic reminder that the Yahoo! Native Gardening group has an Etiquette Policy for message posting to ensure the Native Gardening group remains an enjoyable forum and valuable resource.
The message board is open to anyone, and discussions are not strictly moderated. To make this message board as effective as possible, please note the following when posting a message or sending an email to the Native Gardening group:
1. If you are intending to send a private reply to a posting, double check that the recipient is not the entire membership group. By default, hitting "Reply" to a message will put the nativegardening@yahoogroups.com address as the recipient. Lots of people make this mistake.
2. Do you digest? If so, make sure that you are not replying to a message with the entire digest attached. In short, digesters should not hit "Reply" to the digest. Instead, compose a new note to send to the message board and append only the relevant text from the digest.
3. No flame wars! If you can't keep it civil and on-topic, then don't send it to the message board. That means no name-calling, no put-downs, and no personal attacks. If you have a problem with someone else who belongs to the group, discuss it with that person privately (be sure to read item #1 first, though).
4. Do not send off-topic messages to the message board. If your message is not pertinent to members to the Native Gardening community, then don't send it to the entire group.
5. Don't post "me-too" messages. Messages that simply state an agreement with an idea such as "I agree" or express a simple sentiment such as "congratulations" should be sent to the individual person and not to the entire group. If your message is less than 3 words, then it probably doesn't belong on the Native Gardening message board.
As always, if you have problems, questions or suggestions concerning the mailing Yahoo! Native Gardening group, please send them to nativegardening-owner@yahoogroups.com.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Your Native Gardening Moderators
