hello frank and april and all
i took the cutting to the garden center where they got all kinds of chemicals and stuff, the lady saw it and said there was no chance for it to grow because the cutting has to be from the bottom of the tree where the roots are,but she did have that rooting hormone or similiar but said it would not work,so i dried the piece its been out of water for a couple of days now,now reading more replies there may be hope yet.should i give it a go?is there any chance?
thankyou all

Also April didn't point out that there are 2 types of cuttings, Hardwood and Softwood, Softwood being this years new growth which in many cases is easier to root.
