[machine_needle_felting] Re: Tutorial on Moth Infestation
Linda, I use pure lavender oil sprinkled on small squares of wool fabric (it is a good idea to keep your fiber separated in covered bins), also strong perfumed soaps (wrapped) that I was given as a gift (works great - too strong for me and too strong for the moths!) - one reason I only purchase on-line from trusted sources is that you just can't be too sure just where or for how long fiber has been stored.
In my armoire where I store fabric (some wool) I store Downy fabric sheets - I read this tip somewhere, it works and smells good to keep moths or silverfish away.
I made a picture a while ago using some shibori I had hand dyed. It was an experiment as I was invited to show some of my work in picture form and I didn't have much time for preparation - well I was never fully pleased with it so I used my embellisher and wet felted some green and blue variegated wool to make it more interesting -- and to my surprise a little bluebird began to appear! It was entered into the MD Sheep & Wool and won a first prize; the two vests I entered - both wet felted with some embellisher work and stitching added won a first and second prize; they are on my blog for those of you who'd like to take a peek.
I also purchased some gorgous curls in mixed colorways from a trusted vendor at the MD Sheep and Wool (I couldn't be there for the festival as we left on our family vacation that weekend but she knows what colors I like - and am always tempted by - and we made arrangements for me to get them the day before we left) in the next day or so I'll be posting some for sale - (US and Canada only). I also have an overflow of a variety of wools and silks in great colors fit for machine needle felting and wet felting that I'll be selling too.
