Not sure which of the two jackets you refer to, but the one with the felting on the collar and cuffs is a Sandra Betzina motorcycle jacket pattern. The one with allover embellishment is Butterick 5423.
Oops, I just realized I only gave you the link for the Butterick. :) Here's Vogue 1198:

(GW) i searched the messages for holes and found a few tips but none worked.. i even tried using a small needle and felting/scratching lightly by hand.. thats when i threw it in the washing machine so i have a pretty piece of fuzz now.. maybe ill turn it into a brooch or some fabric beads.. i will try lindas suggestion to use flannel after changing the needle unit ... if that works for me then i will go onto the 100%wool prefelthappy eastertonya

I guess they bothered me more at first. The needles that come on the machine are big and chunky.
The best thing you can do is to buy that attachment that lets you replace each needle singly. I bought one when I bought my machine but haven't put it on yet. Once you have that attachment, it's easy to change to smaller needles and to use as many as you'd like (up to 5).
I'm talking about this unit (this is a link to ebay, I have nothing to do with this vendor):

Here are some pictures (on my blog). They are a bit dark (I couldn't wait to take them and the sun was going down). I made this jacket and then embellished with my Janome. I love my machine!
