honest its easy

just lay  down a section of roving  on the  bottom section for the scarf allowing is to hang bellow the bottom by at least six   inches, it only needs to be about one inch wide.

do several along the bottom don't be too pernickerty about length and  width as it adds to the   design.

you  will  have some  roving  both under and over the top of the fringed sections so that the roving can be felted securely in place.

damp it all down  and  include the fringed sections   start to felt the  top of the  fring areas along the  scarf edge.

once the  hanging trheds are secured  you can begine to eofk onthe  fringes themselves,  make bubble and  place  some  saran wrap on top of them or wear  rubber gloves and  begin to gently  twist and  rub the stands  do not rub up and down we do not want balls. just get teh  roving to felt into long strands  some thick and some thin lok at the photo of the scarf in  my albuem  so you understand  what i mean.

when  rolling  everything up to do a more deeper  felting   take care to  roll the  fringes  so thay are not  curled up.

once it comes to the part where you  are  washing in hot and cold then agin  make sure the  strands are worked  well.

if you  want to  make a deeper statement then  use your  sewing machine and place some gold  thread  in the bobbin  and  with the  scarf FACE down  begin to free motion along the   edge of the scarf.

WHY DID I SAY  PUT IT IN THE BOBBIN ?

  because most machines do not like  the metalic threads  but  if you put the thread into the bobbin and  work the fabric face down you can actually  get it to  accept the thread and sew out ok, Yea  I know its sneaky but it works. just  thread a bright yellow or orange thread through the top  of the needle and look at the results  you can also use  the slightly thicker  embroidery  threads this way too
