Interesting how I can read it and don't find errors..but think that is because my background is English..my father's name was "Hoar", a very English name, but a terrible name in America. I do use some of the expressions that you refer to, but I also think that many of us do this also. It is like wonderful to share our languages and feelings of our countries. let me help heal things and explain that i am a true English woman born in the center of the country.
Black country born and breed and very proud of this, we have our own dialect that is the nearest to old english as you can get.
we even have our own website called the Blackcountry Gob.

yow cud find an ancestor or two.
So cum an hobnob where we spak the Gob.
Cuss weme Black country folk through and through.

we say you are or you are not
you do or you did not
because we are speaking in the Blackcountry dialect
You will hear you can or you cannot
I will or was not
when we are talking in the Black country dialect.
If all this sounds good then come along and join us my friend
you just may be able to trace an ancestor or two
please come and meet us where we talk in our own way
because we are very proud of being born in the middle of England.

Black country refers to the color of the earth in this part of England. go just ten miles from the center and the earth starts to change colour till within fifteen miles its bright red.
the blackness comes from the coal in the area.
