Your right, that should work Roslyn too, I have that steam option on my washer but hadnt used it at all yet! You may need more friction to give it a final reduction/felting though, ssince that friction rubs the fibres togther and encourages them to felt together. But who knows what new effect might be achieved by this method! half the great ideas ahve been folks pushing boundaries to see........'what happens if...' or serendipitous 'mistakes' that thrill us never the less!
Think its def worth a try and yes you can use your lint collections in projects ~ belly button fluff I wouldnt wonder too lolol yukkkkkkk-y or cat/dog hair will felt up as well. Trial is part of the fun, the what if factor you know?
