[machine_needle_felting] Re: base for 1st experiment?
Hi Brenda and welcome! I hope everyone had as good a Christmas as I did visiting our littlest grandson who isn't quite two yet. The answer to your question is YES - you can certainly use the blend to experiment with - in fact, that is how you are going to learn by trial and error. Just use some things from your stash and see what happens - who knows, you might come up with something new for the rest of us!
I bought one of the very first Babylock machines (my heart had palpatations when I saw it!) and when I brought it home all I had was quilting cotton, yarns and silk ribbon on hand. For my first piece I made a sandwich of Hobbs batting between muslin with hand dyed cottons on the top and placed them mosaic style; then I added some yarns over the raw edges placing them side by side to make them wider where needed and then added some wide silk ribbon ruched along one side (you do have to stitch to hold things in place when using cotton and silk) - I was so pleased with it that I kept going and it ended up being the back of a vest!
