We're very happy to have you in the group, and welcome
you to the community. Please introduce yourself
soon and join in the discussions. We hope you find our group a
great place to learn and share information about natural aromatics,
how to blend them and, if you have a business, how to network
and market your products. We have 1800+ friendly, helpful
members here with all levels of expertise. Don't be afraid to
ask questions!
We have some basic rules, outlined below.
POSTING GUIDELINES:
1. NO TOP-POSTING. If your post does not appear,
most likely it was deleted by the mods for TP'ing.
Newbies are given three warnings and we edit the
TP for you, after that it'll be deleted.
Top-posting is when you hit reply and type your response
ABOVE the message from the previous poster. It's much
easier to follow the discussion if posts are added BELOW
the previous post.
One of our favorite netiquette jokes:
A. Top-posting
Q. What's the most annoying thing in Internet groups?
2. SNIP EXCESSIVE QUOTES
Please delete anything the previous poster(s) wrote that is not
directly relevant to your response. Also snip off the ads that
Yahoo automatically attaches to the bottom of all posts. This
keeps the archives clean and easy to read.
3. NO FLAMING
It's OK to respectfully disagree with other members comments,
but don't not get personal or nasty.
4. AD DAY IS TUESDAY
If you have something to sell, the day to do it is on Tuesdays only.
Follow the instructions on how to post an ad. They are sent to the
group every Monday.
5. TRY TO STAY ON TOPIC
A little off-topic discussion is inevitable and perfectly fine, but let's
remember that our primary topic is Natural Perfumery. If an off- topic
discussion goes on for too long, the moderators will request an end
to the thread. Pursuing a thread after a moderator has requested i
ts end will result in the poster being placed on moderation.
6. PLEASE DO NOT INDULGE IN SYNTHETIC PERFUME OR AROMA CHEMICAL DISCUSSIONS.
This list is not the place to discuss individual synthetic chemicals
or fragrance oils. We have had perfumers who use synthetics join
the group and insult us and become very belligerent that we are
not making "their" kind of perfume, so we had to establish this rule.
If you post on these topics, your post will be deleted and you will
be placed on moderation. That may seem harsh, but please remember
the subject matter of this group. Just consider whether a post to a
vegetarian group asking for a meatball recipe would be welcome, or
a post insisting that the "meat" is necessary. There is a place for
synthetics in perfumes - but it is NOT here in Natural Perfumery.
Thank you for understanding.
7. RESPECT THE PRIVACY OF OTHER MEMBERS
Please do not pass on information from this group to people who
are not in the group. Some people have posted information from
this group in other groups, blogs etc. This is a violation of members'
privacy and Yahoo's TOS (Terms Of Service) and will quickly result
in your being unsubscribed from the group and reported to Yahoo.
8. COPYRIGHT LAW
Please do not post any copyrighted material here. It violates Yahoo
Terms Of Service so we will delete all posts containing copyrighted
material. You can post a link to the material you are referencing,
but not the actual text.
9. LIMIT SIGNATURE
Please limit your signature to four lines, including your name.
Our moderators work hard to keep the group running smoothly
and the archives accessible. New members are moderated
until it is clear that they will follow the guidelines.
10. NO EMAIL is not an option.
Special notices is the option of choice on the group, since we
do occasionally send out special notices. It's averaged about one
or two a year, so you will not receive frivolous emails. If you choose
no email you will be unsubbed.
So that's about it. If you have questions you can write to:
NaturalPerfumery-owner@yahoogroups.com
Thanks for joining and have fun!
Fragrantly Yours,
-Anya and the Mods (Patty, Claire, Elise, and Laura)
