Not sure about the purple one, but the white one reminds me of White Snakeroot.

Subject: [Native Gardening] help with identification?
Can anyone identify either of these for me? They showed up in my garden, unbidden and unannounced, and I'm trying to figure out how to respond.
The fuzzy purple one is about a foot high. It looks eupatorium-ish to me--in fact, until it bloomed instead of growing taller, I thought my Joe Pye weed was spreading.
The fuzzy white one is about five feet tall; a caveat, though, is that everything in this bed seems to grow taller than specs. (I may dig my own toes into that soil. ;-)
