Depends on the weeds and how well you maintain your compost pile. Keep your pile turned and moist and its heat will kill most seeds but I never put highly invasive weeds like Garlic Mustard in my compost, I put that in sealed bags and then burn it Frank We abuse the land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect. If I see something unwanted growing in the pile I just chop it up with a shovel and turn it over into the pile again. Including English Ivy...nothing has ever just taken over my compost pile. Things grow in there occassionally. ..but I break 'em up and/or turn the pile. FTR-the ivy i ended up removing because the stalks were too woody. I was a newbie...and my area is still infested with ivy which i'm constantly pulling out. Although now I black bag it and just throw it away. Unfortunately.
