Just a reminder to the person who asked about herbiciding the vinca:
Please make sure to check the labels of the herbicide you use - the
really fine print! The concentration Frank recommends won't be
available in the spray containers.
Most over the counter formulations are at about 2-3%, which is great
for setting dandelions back but won't much bother the vinca other than
to brown it. There are 30% and 40% formulations sold in garden centers
and some big box stores such as Lowes and Home Depot, by the pint and
quart. They are a much better value for the money anyway, since you
can dilute them down to the concentration you need for other jobs. I
use a straight 40% concentration on cut stumps of invasive shrubs such
as buckthorn and it seems to work well.
Just my two cents,
