The big January snowstorm is over and done, so we finally get to celebrate our 500th edition of "This Week at Hilton Pond." The current installment--actually #501--is a our retrospective of nearly 11 years of on-line photo essays about nature, from hummingbirds to flying squirrels and kudzu to sedges. Since most "This Week" installments include a Web counter, we're able to discern which photo essays have been visited most often; we think you'll be as surprised as we were to learn which ones have generated the greatest number of hits.
We sincerely thank all of you who have taken time to click onto the Hilton Pond Web site through the years and hope you'll continue to follow and support our efforts to spread the word about plants, animals, habitats, and phenomena of the Carolina Piedmont--and beyond.
The photo essay for 17-25 January 2011 is at http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek110117.html
While there, please don't forget to scroll down for a list of all birds banded or recaptured during the period, along with miscellaneous notes about Coyotes, basking turtles, waterfowl, and our unrequited attempts to attract Purple Martins. We also acknowledge those Web site visitors who were kind enough to make contributions this week in support of our education, research, and conservation endeavors.
Happy Nature Reminiscing!
