You are right, here a pullover is called a jumper in the UK, a cardigan opens down the front but closes with buttons.  I know a Jumper as a sleeveless dress worn over a sweater or blouse.( Or a horse that jumps over fences, ) my gd has one, she is a hunter jumper. LOL
