I just wrote a piece about the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival in West Friendship, MD on my blog. I entered a couple of felted pieces into the Fine Arts building and ended up winning Best In Show with my "Provincetown" piece. The other piece I entered was the "Bottle Study" which took second place. I was surprised because machine needle felting is virtually unknown to this subculture of knitters, spinners and shepherds. My goal for entering was to introduce this new medium to these people who have unlimited access to wool roving and yarn and love to create with it. I am hoping that many more can see that it, too is a creative way to use wool from their stashes and maybe generate more interest in the art form. Photos of these two pieces are in my photo album called, "Album by Linda Hall". I have a write-up about the weekend and pics on my blog as well.
